After three strikes, walk away. A strike is any deflection or failure to answer a question you asked (not just objections at step 7). Test with reassertion first; if they still will not engage after three strikes, disengage. Do not beg, debate whether they are dodging, insult them, or spend 30 minutes on someone unreachable.
When they say yes to vegan from now on, do not jump, cheer, or pat them on the back. Treat it as the normal response of someone with a functioning heart — then move quickly to active defense.
