Give them nothing

Ammo library

Focusing on the Industry

Severity 3FramingStep 1Step 4

Frames the problem as factory farming, the industry, or what is on screen instead of human supremacism and exploitation.

The give pair

Gives ammo

The meat industry is the real problem, we need to shut down factory farms.

Gives nothing

The problem is that we use other animals for our purposes. Do you agree that is wrong?

The round they fire back

Blame the big factory farms and offer reform as the answer: better regulation, higher welfare standards, buying from the small farm down the road. Cast yourself as one of the good consumers already fixing it, so they end up arguing about industry and policy instead of the individual animal you use.

How to fix it

Do not focus on symptoms, focus on the root problem. Symptoms include industry, conditions, slaughterhouses, supply/demand, and treatment. Root: using someone for your purposes (human supremacism).

Coaching notes

  • Don't focus on symptoms, focus on the root problem.
  • Human supremacism, animals exist for us to use, is the root; industry followed from that.
  • Do not make outreach only about what's playing on the cube screens.
  • Paying for exploitation is one symptom, not the core wrong.
